Everyone on the planet wants the sun to be at its highest point in the sky (crossing the meridian) at noon. If there were just one time zone, this would be impossible because the Earth rotates 15 degrees every hour. The idea behind multiple time zones is to divide the world into 24 15-degree slices and set the clocks accordingly in each zone. All the people in each zone set their clocks the same way, and each zone is one hour different from the next.
US Time Zones: The United States spans 4 time zones, which can significantly impact coordination and communication across different regions. Make sure to check the time zone of the candidate before calling them.
These are as below:
Eastern Time Zone (EST): This zone includes major cities such as New York, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.
Central Time Zone (CST): This zone covers cities like Chicago, Dallas, and New Orleans.
Mountain Time Zone (MST): This zone includes cities like Denver, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City.
Pacific Time Zone (PST): This zone encompasses cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
Each time zone in the US moving west from EST moves back by one hour;
9 AM EST is 8 AM CST, 7 AM MST, and 6 AM PST
Key Note: 15 US states have more than one time zone. These are – Florida, Oregon, Kentucky, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, North Dakota, Michigan, Alaska, South Dakota, Nevada, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, and Indiana.
